caught Rapture at Mediacorp with Anna Jovita to support the Alumni dancers (in particular, YingLi) i felt damn old as a J3 going back to watch the SAJC annual dance concert. urgh! seeing the 30th council on duty as ushers just reminds me of the days where we're all dressed smartly in our tailored blazers and the blisters we girls suffered due to our court shoes! oh well. those were the days. but Rapture was good anyway! just that Mediacorp was so inaccessible we had to cab there and cab back :/

Sunday 22/07/07met up with JingXiu for advance birthday lunch! since she isn't free the whole week. Kenneth and her bought me a Forever Friends Mug which is so sweet. and they made me a BLOODY cool card. and i emphasize on the two words BLOODY COOL. wait till you see the photos! and Kenneth actually worked out the physics of the whole card. how creative! like really! :D i really really sincerely appreciate it! alright here's a glimpse of the BLOODY COOL card!

oh thats the card and their mug! if you think the letters HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHERLYNN are sticked on the paper then you're SO wrong. take a look at the whole mechanism of the card!
HOW COOL IS THAT LAH! hahahah! i was so impressed can! just that it can't stand on it's own. which explains the file behind it :X
meet one of the creators of the card, Ng Jing Xiu. the other producer Kenneth Li is back in camp. LOL!

i was supposed to meet YingLi & Ellyne in town at 1pm. being such a sleepyhead i woke up at 11:15am :X and both of them rang my doorbell at 11:30am and surprised me with a lighted cake. THANKS AH. i was damn unglam. like seriously! but i was still very touched la nonetheless. so they slacked in my room while i prepared to go out. kbox! damn lame la. tsktsk. but it was much fun despite all the zou ying-ing during singing. :D thanks girls! as a reward they got to be my first two non-family passengers. lol!
now you understand why i say i was unglam? HAHAH.
Ellyne's face was quite red after the Sprite Tequila! :D and YingLi looks so tanned after her camp. i thought i was black enough. HAHAH.
however, i only managed to spend half a day with them for dinner was reserved with my family. my dad brought me, my mum, my grandma and my aunts to Swissotel for buffet dinner! WOOHOO :D


that's how i spent my birthday! anyway a BIG THANK YOU goes out to each and every single one of you who remembered!
my dear cousin Tan Yong Teck (hahah!) who was the very FIRST one to wish me at the stroke of midnight.
people like Anna Jovita, Collen, Kenneth, JingXiu, Luling etc. and even the few most unexpected people whom i haven't been in contact with :/ YES not to mention Whitney and Claire who messaged me their birthday wishes all the way from Down-Under! and Andy's friendster testimonial, also from Down-Under. AHHH! i was really touched by the fact they remembered!
and the NS-Boys! hahah! despite their busy schedules! Ian wished me half an hour in advance being afraid he won't have time to wish after training, Alfred past midnight despite having to report early next morning, and Xun who still remembers! (: but of course, belated birthday wishers are forgiven. it's better late than never right? i still appreciate them! (: this includes Jason (who still owes me a letter), Mich, Gen, Huis, Jiam etc. and Sua! who happily forgot, or rather thought my birthday was couple of months ago until tuesday night. tsktsk :D
it really feels pretty old being 19. with university starting in 2weeks time :/ but anyway i couldn't get a place in the Science Orientation Week camp as i was too slow in application and it's full. like duh, 375places for a science cohort of 900+ is just plain ridiculous. i don't understand why it's called Freshmen Orientation when it doesn't include all freshmen. so dumb. but it's ok cuz i already know quite a few people goin into science fac. which also means i'm free from 1st to 12th August. people, please ask me out before school starts! hahah.
to end off, meet my new school bag! :D my mum got it for me abt a month ago as a birthday present in advance! I LOVE IT LA!

Anna Jovita. feels damn old to be watching that as a J3. and seeing my juniors! urgh! hahah.
i will update abt it another time because i guess then i'll be able to merge entries! heh.
and if you're free read today's straits times forum page. the last entry abt how Singapore isn't First World yet. it's a comparison between Japan's society and ours. which is the issue i've been ranting about all this while.

i strongly recommend this japanese drama. it's based on a true story of a girl who had the Spinocerebellar Degeneration disease, which means the part of her brain that controls her movement and ability to speak is dying by the day, and there is no cure for such a disease.
it's 10episodes and towards the end of the show i was moved to tears at almost every episode. it's truly inspirational indeed. how the girl can be so strong despite her disease, which she eventually succumbed to.
and it made me feel, maybe the setbacks that happen in our lives everyday are so trivial, but people tend to blow things up and make it seem like it's such a big issue when it's actually not compared to what others are facing.
and maybe the pace of life is so fast we have no time to slow down our footsteps to admire the things around us, even if it's along the same road we take everyday. and to spend quality time with the people around us. you'll realise certain things which you may not have noticed in the past, or which you have always taken for granted.

from the title, you should be able to guess what my entry will be about. thats right! HARRY POTTER. i've just watched it today. and being someone who always reads the book again before the movie, i shall comment on it. (this is entirely a personal opinion)
first, lets talk abt the positive points! lets see..
1. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) was gorgeous and all, but thats not the main point. HAHAH.
2. The effects during the battle between Voldemort and Dumbledore were good. the smashing glass and everything. i think that was the climax of the movie.
3. The background scenery of their flying scene towards Number Twelve Grimmauld Place (see i read the book. heh) was BREATH-TAKING. no wonder Jason Yeung is enjoying it there. LOL.
4. I thought Imelda Staunton who played Dolores Umbridge was brilliant. she was bitchy and annoying enough, which fulfilled the role of Dolores exactly what she's being portrayed in the book itself. not to mention Harry & gang, even i was irritated just by watching her. and Luna Lovegood was good too. it's totally alike to whats portrayed in the book. always dreamy and all.
5. The film managed to capture a mixture of emotions. certain scenes were damn funny especially with Ron & his brothers Fred&George. hilarious. the fighting scene was exciting.. and the scene where Sirius Black was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange (oops i hope i'm not a spoiler at this) was quite an emotional one. there were scenes with anger and so on but i shall not reveal too much. just watch it.
oh and Ron is actually quite a sweet guy! if you actually realise the way he teases/talks back Hermoine ALL THE TIME, he still cares alot for her and wants to protect her especially in the scene where she was grabbed by Grawp. awwwwww...
NOW, lets see the list of negative points!
1. The kissing scene (URGHH!) was too long. LOL. no, this is not a valid point.
2. When Hagrid wanted Grawp to be taken care of, he's supposed to have brought only Hermoine & Harry because Ron was the new Gryffindor Keeper and he was supposed to be playing Quidditch against Slytherin then. but in the movie, Ron followed them! :/
3. The entire scene abt Hermoine getting a reporter from Daily Prophet to get Harry's account on the encounter with Voldemort during V'day which pisses Cho off was totally out! so sad.
4. How Harry got to see Snape's Worst Memory of being bullied by James Potter was through Snape's Pensieve. not through the Legilimens spell during Occlumency!
5. I thought the ending part where Dumbledore personally spoke to Harry was too short la! it took up a chapter for Dumbledore to explain to Harry about the Lost Prophecy and they only showed like 5mins? aiyo.
okay. for now i can't think of any more. it's overall a good film i must say. much darker than any other Harry Potter movies. worth a watch! (: BUT DON'T READ THE BOOK BEFORE YOU WATCH or you'll be quite disappointed!
oh and i bought my Freaky Monsta tshirt today too. so happy! :D

at this point in time, i can really relate to the words on my blog template.
life has definitely been fair to me. with the greatest parents and family ever, with the nicest friends and a life i consider pretty luxurious considering i get what i want most of the time. i really can't ask for more.
but life has also threw some things right smacked in my face. incidents when i've asked myself, or asked the higher being up there. why me? like seriously. why must it be me? i am not complaining and i don't plan to, despite all the trouble and hussle i am or had been faced with. because such things are definitely incomparable to those who are faced with larger problems, such setbacks will only make me view life through a very different perspective - all this so-called cliched things like value your family, friends and what you have, it's really true. life is very unpredictable and humans are fragile. anything can happen at anytime and anywhere. for one minute we know we're all up and alive the other we're down with some illness.
on the other hand, things like leading a certain kind of lifestyle that is deemed as healthy may appear/seem to be some kind of fallacy because sometimes it just doesn't work out. but what i've been through in this short span of 19years has definitely made me a more optimistic and a much stronger person inside.
it's all about balance isn't it. i guess my world can't always be perfect and smooth-sailing eh? really can't expect too much. lol.
there's much more to life i've yet to experience and lessons i've yet to learn. it's still a long road ahead of me.
so this is all part of growing up? hmm.
we all have our own problems don't we?

Friday - 06/07/07i went to Vivo to collect the movie tickets my dad booked. and so i met Ellyne there as well since she was intending to buy her $123 dress from River Island. we had nothing better to do after all the shopping so we went to take the new monorail to Sentosa, toured around for about half an hr and then took the monorail back to Vivo. LOL. serious we were like tourists snapping photos here and there at Sentosa. we were first-timers on the monorail anyway!
i must say i am very annoyed. i think things from River Island, their clothes in particular are sooo freaking NICE! but they cost a BOMB! and i mean really costly! to the extent i feel a piece of garment ain't worth that much money. there's this nice white blouse and black shorts i tried and loved them to bits but they cost $69 and $95 respectively! ermmmm. hahahah! i'm so so sad! ):
Saturday - 07/07/07i watched Transformers with my daddy in the morning. oh gosh. ultimate coolness! the yellow Chevrolet car (Bumblebee) is soo nice! Autobots vs Decepticons. the effects were brilliant too. i think my dad enjoyed the show as well, which i'm glad he did. i caught Spiderman with him too since he loves such movies. it's rather rare to watch movies with my dad but it's okay if it makes him happy! moreover, he pays for the tickets. hahahah.
late afternoon i drove to Changi Airport! ooh how exciting to travel the whole ECP for the first time! with my parents in the car too of course. my dad took over the car once i reached the airport. i went to send the golden couple,
Claire &
Andy off with some of the councillors and class people. the airport was surprisingly crowded tonight i wonder why. hmm. but thats not the point. it wasn't a very emotional goodbye. i didn't cry buckets though i still cried. i tried so hard to keep my composure until when they were about to leave & we had a group hug. omg. the council girls started crying then. i can see
James was trying to stay cool. HAHAH. and
Andy cried too! surprisingly more than
Claire i guess. lol! thats funny. Andy's brother cried buckets. it was so rush we didn't even get a chance to take a group photo with them! ):
but i guess i'm more of happy for them than sad. for i know they'll be back in no time if they manage to come back in December. it's quite fun actually. they're leaving on their own with no parents to Australia! lol. there goes my mahjong kahkee who always throw the tile for me to game and win his money ):
all the times we've had are nothing but sweet sweet memories.

my photocard driving licence arrived via registered mail today!the stupid postwoman knocked on my door and called out "CHAN JIN HUI" (where's the SHERLYNN?! urgh) so loudly i think my neighbours would have heard and know my name la. she could've just used the doorbell button on the right hand side. lol.
but whatever. what the mail holds is definitely more important than neighbours knowing my name. woohooo!
it's a good thing that my parents are having more and more confidence & trust in my driving, especially my dad. i share his stress when i first started to drive but i guess it's starting to lessen by the days. plus i can park without poles now. i think he's slightly impressed. heh.
serxing once told me "omg you're such a mummy's girl!"
come to think of it, i certainly am not just a mummy's girl, i'm a daddy's girl too. and i'm proud of it. i'm most fortunate to have them as my parents really.

Fridayi met up with Ellyne & Shuqi since Ellyne said she saved a piece of brownie she baked for me. lol. it was a nice catch-up session and okay we shopped! hahah. Ellyne's camera wasn't really put into good use since we didn't really camwhore. oh well.
PHOTOTIP: Vivocity's toilets are very suitable if you wanna get shots with good lightings, a large mirror, and nice mosaic patterns. but of course, remember block the unsightly toilet bowls! LOL.

i met Cais, Huis, James, Lari, Claire and Andy at Orchard for our supposedly "dinner ONLY". and then we used the excuse of playing to go to Andy's place. where Andy & Claire found themselves pleasantly surprised because it was all part of the plan of their farewell party to lure them out so preparations can take place at his place. hahahah. SUCCESS!
the party was awesome. haven't seen some of the councillors in the longest time! it was initially really chaotic with everyone 'ahhh!' here and 'OMG!' there. and tons of catching up was going on. food of course was good.. company was best. though it's a shame people like Kenneth Yoong & YongHwee couldn't be there cuz they're stuck in SAFTI for their 3weeks confinement. but still it was a blast.
i'll upload the pictures some other day. or rather after i've gotten the other photos from Cais & Huis or whoever has them cuz those taken on my phone weren't very clear.
it's that nostalgic feeling. when everybody gathers and talks. i miss ):
it'll really be a sad affair sending Andy & Claire off next week. i'll miss them.
what's more! Andy's place won't be available to us for gathering anymore! the only place to have crazy gatherings without parents. LOL.
